Book Review On Anne Of Green Gables Book

Anne of Green Gables is written by Lucy Maud Montgomery, and it is considered to be a masterpiece. The fact that this was Montgomery's first book does not come out because of finesse and style of writing. The book was first published in 1908 and meant for all ages. However, nowadays it considered to be a children's book.

Anne of Green Gables is the story about a girl who is full of romantic ideas. She is an orphan, who is sent to Prince Edward Island by her orphanage. In the same island live a brother and sister named Mathew and Marilla Cuthbert. While Anne, the little girl, is full of romantic ideas, Marilla is the exact opposite. She is level-headed and practical.

The tone of the book is set by the first meeting between Anne and Marilla. The incident is when Marilla asks Anne her name, instead of replying honestly, Anne says that her name is Cordelia. When asked whether that is really her name, Anne says that she prefers to be called Cordelia because her own name is not romantic enough. This puts Marilla on the task of trying to convince Anne to accept her name as it is a good and sensible one. However, Anne, who is anything but sensible and good, does not want to accept her name.

However, Anne is a passionate, entertaining and amusing character. These same qualities get her into trouble throughout the book. However, readers will find her very endearing. In fact, in modern times, the character of Anne is often compared to Tom Sawyer as Anne also has the habit of getting into adventures because of her competitive nature.

If you have not read this book, then it is about time you did. It is a wonderful and engaging book that is worth the time spent on it.
