The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown was first published in 2003, long before the movie was released in 2006. Ever since the book was published and ended up becaming a best seller, there have been a lot of questions raised by people asking whether the Da Vinci Code is real. |
The book was written after Brown conducted extensive research, and is primarily based on a non-fictional book entitled Holy Blood, Holy Grail. This particular book, Holy Blood, Holy Grail, presents a lot of arguments about Jesus and Mary Magdalene, which some people find extremely convincing. However, there are others who scorn at the idea.
However, if you ask a Christian whether the Da Vinci Code is real, the answer will be definitely be a no. The book after all is a categorized as a work of fiction even if Brown conducted a lot of research to write. Therefore, for most people, it is just a work of fiction, which has managed to get many of its facts wrong. For instance, the book claims that the Priory of Sion was established centuries ago, when, in fact, there is evidence to show the Priory of Sion was actually founded in 1956. This straight away debunks Brown's claim that Leonardo Da Vinci was the head of this secret society.
On the other hand, there are historians and researchers, although in minority, who claim that certain aspects of the book are true. For instance, they claim that Jesus Christ was married to Mary Magdalene, and they had at least one biological child.
Therefore, one cannot say whether Da Vinci Code is real or not. Basically, religion is based on belief and faith. The book, in turn, raises a lot of questions about religion and beliefs. It presents its arguments to the readers. Whether a reader wants to believe the book or not is his or her choice. For the moment, the book is categorized as a work of fiction. So, everything that it mentions or suggests should be taken with a pinch of salt, and not as real.
