Harry Potter Book Review

Harry Potter is a magical story that has created a furor world over. The books are penned by J.K. Rowling and are meant for children. However, even adults love the books which tell the story about a young adolescent boy named Harry Potter and his adventures along with his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

The story of Harry Potter is chronicled over seven novels. The first novel in the series is entitled Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The first day it was released, it created a sensation that has not stopped even after the last book of the series was published. Here the book tells about Harry, his friends and his past. Readers come to know how Potter's parents were killed by a wizard named Voldemort, who did not succeed in killing baby Harry Potter. His miraculous escape from the clutches of Voldemort has made Harry into a celebrity in the wizarding world. However, Harry's contact with Voldemort does not end as his life is still in danger.

Harry's story continues in the second book entitled Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. In this book, the chamber is opened and a monster is set free. In this story, Harry manages to find his identity and courage. Also, his friends are shown in good light which endears them to the readers.

The third novel in the series is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. By this time, Harry is in his third year at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This is the only book where Voldemort is not there. Instead, Harry has to deal with Sirius Black, an escaped prisoner and one who is believed to be involved in killing Harry's parents.

Then comes Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Here Voldemort makes a return and through his magical powers forces Harry to take part in a tournament. The fifth book in the series is entitled Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Once Voldemort reappears, Dumbledore reactivates the Order to fight the followers of Voldemort and protect Harry.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is the sixth book in the saga. In this book, readers find out that Voldemort is running his own wizardry school that is violent. However, Harry and his friends are protected within the confines of Hogwarts. In this book, Harry finds a book of spells and portions written by a writer named the Half Blood Prince. Due to the book, Harry becomes an expert at making potions. However, as the story moves, Harry learns to distrust the writer and the potions mentioned in the book. Towards the end Dumbledore dies after he is killed by Professor Snape.

The last book of the series is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Here Voldemort has gained control of the Ministry of Magic, but Harry, Ron and Hermione are determined to bring about his downfall.

All the books in the series are well written and in an interesting manner to keep the readers engrossed.
