Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone -- This is the first book in the series where Harry discovers that he is a wizard and start going to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to learn the tricks of being a wizard. The readers are also introduced to two of Harry's best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets -- In the second book, readers find out about the history of the wizardry school, Hogwarts, and also learn about a secret underground lair known as the Chamber of Secrets. The Chamber is suppose to be the home of an evil power.
 

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban -- Sirius Black is a prisoner who escapes from Azkaban and it is believed that he had a hand in the killing of Harry's parents. This puts Harry at risk. However, dementors, creatures from the dark that have the ability to eat human soul, are used to protect the school. However, Harry learns that Black did not kill his parents, but was framed for their murder by a person called Peter Pettigrew. 

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire -- The book sees Voldemort trying to make his way back into the magical world of Hogsmeade. He uses his powers to get Harry to take part in a wizardry competition, and towards the end of the book, Voldemort manages to make a come back and strengthens in power. However, a student named Cedric Diggory is killed in the bargain.   

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix -- With the return of Voldemort, Dumbledore reactivates the Order of the Phoenix in an attempt to fight and defeat Voldemort's followers and to protect Harry. Harry and his friends have to face Death Eaters, who are followers of Voldemort, but they are saved because of the arrival of the Order of the Phoenix leading to the capture of many Death Eaters.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince -- Voldemort has started another school of wizardry, but the school practices violent methods. However, Harry stumbles across a book of making spells and potions. The book is written by a writer known only as the Half Blood Prince. This book helps Harry to become an expert in potion-making. However, gradually Harry realizes that the writer and the book cannot be trusted.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- This is the last book of the series where open war occurs between Harry and Voldemort. Many of the main characters from other books die in an attempt to save Hogwarts from Voldemort and his Death Eaters. However, Harry and his friends manage to destroy all the horcruxes, which finally helps in killing Voldemort.
